School Counselor

Overview

Footprint Staffing is seeking a compassionate and proactive School Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students in grades K–12. The ideal candidate will foster a safe and inclusive school environment, provide individual and group counseling, and collaborate with educators and families to promote student success.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling to address academic, behavioral, and emotional needs 

  • Support students in goal-setting, decision-making, and conflict resolution 

  • Assist with crisis intervention and referrals to outside mental health services when needed 

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies that support student achievement 

  • Implement school-wide programs that promote social-emotional learning, mental health awareness, and positive behavior 

  • Participate in IEP and 504 plan development and meetings as needed 

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and school policies


Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field 

  • Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor 

  • Experience working in educational settings preferred 

  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills


Preferred Skills 

  • Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, and SEL frameworks 

  • Experience with trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive counseling 

  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize effectively 

  • Proficiency in digital counseling tools and student information systems
